Politics over 550th Parkash Purab shameful: Bhagwant Mann

Condemning the politics around the events ahead of the celebrations of the 550th Parkash Purab, AAP state president Bahgwant Mann today said all names were dwarfed in front of the name of Guru Nanak and there shouldn’t be feud over seats (on stage) or events concerning the auspicious occasion.

At Phagwara to campaign for AAP candidate Santosh Kumar Gogi across 10 villages of the assembly constituency, ahead of the Assembly bypoll, Mann condemned contentions among the Congress and SGPC over functions to be held in Sutanpur Lodhi to mark the Parkash Purab. 

While the Congress and SGPC are setting up parallel stages, on her last visit to Sultanpur Lodhi Union minister and SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal had also said the Congress wanted to spoil the programme planned by the SGPC. 

Taking a dig at both the parties today, Mann said, “Bade sharam di gal hai jitthe Guru Nank Sahab da naa aa gaya – otthe sare naa chote reh jande ne. Kihda naa – neeh patthar de utte kihda naa thalle – Stage te kaun baithuga, thalle kaun baithuga…oh koi maaine nahi rakhda. Ehnan de dimaag ton kursi nahi nikaldi – eh apni apni kursiyan laike baithe ne – eh sharmanaak gal hai. (It’s shameful. Where Guru Nanak’s name comes, all other names are dwarfed. Who has name written on foundation stones or who sits on chairs on or off the stage doesn’t matter. It is shameful that leaders are obsessing over politics of chairs and events).”

Speaking about the Akali Dal with BJP fall out in Haryana, Mann said, “The SAD is indulging in politics of convenience by siding with BJP where they have hope of seats even as they have fallen out in Haryana.” 

While Mann said the AAP would also be holding road shows on October 13 and 14 in Phagwara, he held 10 rallies in different villages of Phagwara in favour of the AAP candidate. He said the Congress government had failed to fulfil its election promises and development works in the state.
