VADODARA: A detainee under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act was booked here for possessing a mobile phone inside the Vadodara Central Jail.
The accused Sunny alias Lambelal Agrasen, who is from the Dindoli area of Surat, was caught red-handed on Saturday midnight by jail officials, who recovered a mobile phone and a sim card from him.
According to jail officials, they suspected illegal activities in barrack 14 of yard 12 of the jail during the routine night round. On checking, jail sepoys found a mobile under the pillow of Agrasen.
When Agrasen was questioned about the source of the mobile phone, he said that another PASA Act detainee Chhabilrajsinh alias Raja Rajput had given the mobile phone to him. However, the jail officials could not verify Agrasen’s claims as Rajput was released from the jail on the same evening.
The jail officials gave a complaint against Agrasen and three other inmates. A case under the Jails Act was registered against Agrasen at Raopura police station here.
