Cancer registry in state soon | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A registry for cancer patients will be launched in the state soon. Health department is taking steps to find out the actual burden of the disease in the state.
Since cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the state, its accurate prevalence is still not known. “We will soon launch the registry so that we will be able to know more about its prevalence,” said a senior health department official. Taking note of increasing threat of cancer, the state government is constructing a cancer care institute in Pratapnagar for expanding facilities for treatment.
“Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. We have to fight against it. The cancer registry will come as a tool for us to know more about its prevalence. Through the registry, we will be able to know which types of cancer has high prevalence and which part of the state is reporting the highest number of cases,” said the official. The registry will help in making policy decision on cancer, its prevention and treatment aspect, he said. tnn
